Roof Replacement Prep Tips

Tips to Prepare for Your Roof Replacement

Is the day for your roof replacement rapidly approaching? Are you starting to get stressed out thinking about how you will be ready for it? Well, don’t worry too much. There are a few things you can do to prepare for it.

Think About Your Pets

When you are getting ready for a new roof, you may have to consider your pets and how well they handle loud noises. If your dog is scared of storms, then they will not be happy with all the banging that comes with a roofing replacement process. It is recommended that you find somewhere to put your dog or cat on the day of the replacement. Thinking about your pets is but one thing that you need to consider before you replace your roof.

Taking Things off the Walls

When your roof is being installed, it will often result in vibrations throughout your home. This is especially true when your roofer is using hand-nailing as their installation method. Just because something is secure on your wall does not mean the vibrations are going to knock it down. However, as the saying goes, “Better to be safe than sorry”. If you have something valuable or irreplaceable on the wall, take it off until the job is done.

Moving Vehicles

On the day of the roof removal and replacement, your driveway will often contain a dump truck/trailer and the contractor’s vehicles. If you plan on leaving anytime during the replacement, it is important to move your vehicle before your contractor arrives so you do not get blocked in. If you do get blocked in and need to leave, the entire roofing replacement job has to stop and clear everything just so you can get out.
